Christian Cupboard

Volunteers for our on-site food pantry collect, sort, stock and distribute non-perishable groceries donated by generous parishioners throughout the year. Bi-weekly distributions are made to approximately three dozen struggling households in our parish and nearby community. The Ministry also conducts Holiday Food Basket drives benefitting an additional 270 individuals or households at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. As needed, Christian Cupboard provides food to men, women, and children in crisis who are being served by our Local Outreach programs, including the unemployed, stretched single mothers and families, struggling seniors, and others. Ministry Leader Maria Williams may be contacted at 609-440-1074 or williamsmcw@verizon.net

Nursing Home Companions

Ministry participants make weekly visits to male and female residents at several nearby nursing homes, on individualized schedules, each week throughout the year. Wherever possible, volunteers are matched with residents based on interests and personalities. These thousands of face-to-face visits bring much-needed friendship and support to residents, who eagerly await their St. Andrews friends. Ministry Leader Chris Parry may be contacted at 856-906-5127 or spcp1@comcast.net   Ministry volunteers collect and sort donated clothing, shoes and accessories for distribution to the needy and struggling in our parish and the surrounding community, as well as to Joseph's House and New Visions Homeless Day Shelter in Camden.

Clothing Distribution Ministry

Throughout the year volunteers collect, sort, and distribute clothing, footwear, and accesssories donated through our on-site clothing bin. Items are distributed to struggling individuals and children in our parish and local community; to homeless guests at Joseph's House of Camden shelter; to at-risk infants and children served by Guadalupe Family Services in Camden; and to impoverished adults and children in nearby Lindenwold Section 8 housing, and elsewhere. Remaining clothing is donated to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, Goodwill Industries, the American Red Cross and through outreach programs at nearby churches. Ministry Leader Chris Parry may be contacted at 856-906-5127 or spcp1@comcast.net

Local Outreach Ministry

This ministry helps parishioners and nearby community residents in times of emergencies and temporary crises. Among those assisted are the unemployed, transitionally homeless, single mothers, financially disenfranchised seniors, struggling veterans, and people with serious illnesses and disabilities.   Assistance can range from securing and delivering food, clothing, furniture or household items for the needy; providing rides to important appointments during temporary crises; and making referrals to county or outside programs offering subsidized housing, women's services, veterans services, and much more. The Ministry also serves thousands of men, women and children through its Christmas Giving Tree project, annual School Success Drive, Winter Coat Drive, Children's Easter Basket Drive, etc. Ministry Leader Bob Sperrazza may be contacted at 856-784-3878 Extension 27 or rsperrazza@churchofstandrews.org

Camden County Jail Ministry

State-registered volunteers provide faith-based mentoring, life-skills training, and emotional support to female inmates at Camden County Jail each Thursday morning throughout the year. In addition to conducting these weekly classes, volunteers also provide released offenders with mentoring, furniture, food, resume-writing and job search assistance, personal items, and wardrobes for both parolees and, occasionally, their children. Volunteers maintain years-long personal relationships with program participants to provide long-term support and stem repeat offenses and recidivism. Ministry Leader Chris Parry may be contacted at 856-906-5127 or spcp1@comcast.net

Veterans Outreach Ministry

Parishioners who enjoy expressing their gratitude to service men and women who served and fought for our freedom visit older and disabled veterans at the Philadelphia Veterans Administration community living center and New Jersey Veterans Memorial Nursing Home in Vineland. Volunteers shake hands, convey their gratitude, listen to vets' unforgettable stories about their service experience, and bring gifts (like socks, underwear, Philadelphia sports apparel, and vouchers for the on-site commissary) from St. Andrew's Christmas Giving Tree. Several hundred veterans are visited each year at these two locations. Ministry Leader Bob Sperrazza may be contacted at 856-784-3878 Ext 27 or rsperrazza@churchofstandrews.org.

Meal Ministry

Our volunteer chefs prepare and deliver meals, on occasion, to selected individuals and families in the parish and nearby community during times of severe illness or personal crises. Situations have included preparing meals for the husband and three children of a terminally-ill parishioner; cooking for a failing single and shut-in cancer patient with no family; cooking for and assisting the new-born infant of a young stroke victim who was afflicted days after delivery; etc. The need is intermittent, but critically important to individuals in crisis. Ministry Leader Chris Parry may be contacted at 856-906-5127 or spcpl@comcast.net.

Joseph's House of Camden Ministry

Each month, loving home chefs prepare large casseroles for delivery by other volunteers to Joseph's House of Camden homeless shelter. Some cook every month, others once or twice a year, but St. Andrews' parishioners provide hot meals for about two thousand homeless men and women every year. Additionally, this Ministry collects and delivers carloads of underwear, socks, footwear, blankets, winter hats, scarves, totes and roller bags, sugar, laundry pods. etc., to JHOC year-round. Volunteers find in this ministry not only a way to help their neighbors in one of the poorest and most crime-afflicted cities in America, but a humbling and rewarding way to affirm their Christian faith. Ministry Leader Bob Sperrazza may be contacted at 856-784-3878 Extension 27 or rsperrazza@churchofstandrews.org
